  • The Whitehawk Inn
  • WEA

The community based partners in Shoreham, Brighton, and Hastings & St Leonards project provide a wide range of activities from their popular venues and are recruiting, developing and supporting 40 Community Learning Champions as part of this project.

We aim to attract at least 900 new learners into informal learning through tis project.  This informal learning includes areas of local and personal interest, such as oral history, allotments, IT, health, wellbeing & fitness and creative activities.  Learners are offered assess needs, aspiration and potential, leading to the development of supported pathways in learning.

The organisations provide a wide range of services and support, including Information Advice and Guidance.  This support means that llearners will have the opportunity to take up more formal learning, training and education, in community settings, colleges or universities.

The organisations provide support for the Community Learning Champions.  This includes: training, the option of gaining a qualification, peer mentoring, volunteer support, transport and crèche costs.

Linked events and a combined project report, are planned so that all participants can celebrate their own and others achievements and spread the word about the project.
